- How can I connect to machines on the Internet?
The following services are available from the
microcomputers in the department computer lab, and most
of the other computers around grounds:
- telnet
Used for interactive connections to a remote
machine
- ftp
Used to send and receive files to/from a remote
machine
- eXceed/MacX
Used to display windows from a remote machine on
a local display
- What is ITC?
(used to be ACC) You may see references to ITC in various
computer documents around the department. ITC is the
department of Information Technology and Communication.
It is responsible for maintenance of computers owned by
the university as a whole (as opposed to those owned by
an individual professor or department).
- Who do I complain to?
If you have a complaint or suggestion, please e-mail
it to physics-comp@virginia.edu, or accost one of these
fine individuals:
