"Novel, Collective Insulating Phase in 2D Superconductors in High Magnetic Fields"Sambandamurhy Ganapathy , Magnet Lab, Tallahassee and Princeton University [Host: Jongsoo Yoon]
ABSTRACT:
Superconductor-insulator transition (SIT) in 2D films has been an
active area in condensed matter physics research. The reason is the
continuing theoretical focus to understand zero temperature quantum
phase transitions (QPT) and the relative experimental ease with which
QPT can be tuned successfully in 2D films.
We present results from our study of the magnetic field (B)-tuned SIT
in amorphous indium oxide films. We present three experimental
evidences that suggest that a novel, collective insulating state
emerges in the B-induced insulating phase. We argue that our results
lend support to the central assumption of the QPT approach.
