PHYS 3110 Widely Applied Physics I



Basic physics principles involved in energy production, distribution and storage: Engines, generators, photosynthesis, fossil fuels, solar energy, photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, geothermal, wind & hydro power, fuel cells, batteries, and the power grid. [Nuclear energy is covered in Phys 3120.] Three lecture hours and a two-hour discussion session each week. (Y) Prerequisite: PHYS 2620 or instructor permission.
