Focus:

To see the approximately 100 activities already developed for 8th grade physical science SOLs with descrepant events, teacher background, material list, student procedure, data sheets, and evaluations, look at our exciting website by clicking here.

Dates and Location:
August 1 -14, 2001; 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Mon-Fri. Class held in room 22, Physics Building, UVa, Charlottesville.

Credit:
3 hours graduate credit. Register through the Charlottesville office of the UVa School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Textbook:
An Introduction to Physical Science, 9th ed (2000) by Shipman, Wilson, and Todd. Houghton Mifflin Company. ISBN 0-395-95570-X
Copies of the textbook are available in the University of Virginia Book Store that is located next to Newcomb Hall and on top of the Central Parking Garage.

Laboratory Journal:
You will be required to write the results of your hands-on activities in a journal. We will discuss in class what kind of journal you should purchase. Look here to find out more about your journal.

Your grade will be determined by the following (subject to change):

Journal 45%
2 Hour Exams 25%
Homework 15%
Quizzes 15%
