Research Interests:

Professor Minehart´s research centers on the study of electro-production of excited states of the nucleon. Excitation of the nucleon will allow us to study the quark structure of the nucleon. This research will focus on experiments at the Large Acceptance Detector (CLAS) at the Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory in Newport News, VA. The detector consists of a large toroidal superconducting magnet with a variety of detectors designed to track charged particles through the magnetic field, to measure particle velocities and to identify particles. The CLAS has nearly 4pi acceptance, so that the quantity of data obtained will be several orders of magnitude greater than now exists.
