Population annea ling is a sequential Monte Carlo method for studying the equilibrium prope rties of glassy systems characterized by rough free energy landscapes. &nb sp\;In this talk I will \;introduce two glassy systems\, the Ising spi n glass and a glass-forming binary mixture of hard spheres. I will describ e population annealing and some of its useful features\, and then \;pr esent results from simulations of these glassy systems.
