Research Interests: Olivier Pfister´s research focuses on experimental quantum optics and quantum information. The quantum nature of light (the existence of photons) is a fascinating subject and has turned into a mature experimental field since its inception in the eighties. Our research follows three main axes: - The use of quantum noise reduction (squeezing) in some light states for ultra-precise or ultra-sensitive measurements, such as Heisenberg-limited interferometry. - The study of quantum optics for its own sake, such as the generation of higher-order squeezing and of non-gaussian states of light. - The application of quantum optics to the implementation of quantum information and communication protocols, such as quantum teleportation.
